Here was Honor taking Best of Breed over her half brother,
the number two Mastiff in Canada just the year before.
She was still a puppy - not yet a year old.

An absolutely gorgeous girl, that we took back in place of a stud fee. We lost her at an early age due to a tragic accident. Her Mom was a very sweet girl, but the dams lines tended to have aggression problems, which was the case with Honor, and proved to be the cause of her untimely death. Never, never purchase based on looks - temperament is sooooo much more important! We had decided early on, not to breed her, so that her poor temperament would never be passed on to any puppies.

Looking back at Honor's behaviour and knowing what I know now, I am sure that Honor suffered from rabies vaccinosis. (and put a link to Vaccines and Temperament - I shall finally write the article) She suffered classic signs - chewing rocks and other foreign objects; aggression, etc. And in her dams lines, the breeder not only used to vaccinate annually, but would vaccinate if the vaccines were due within a few months, (if the dog was being bred), believing that it would strengthen and stimulate the immune system. We now know better, and understand that vaccinosis can be inherited. I am currently taking a course on vaccines.  Recommended Reading:

Honor passed away before we were able to begin her health testing.
